Janner,

I think S-2 is intel chief for a Inf. Regiment? battalion?...and G-2 is for intel chief of a Inf. division or whole Army?..am not sure.....BTW, In high school am S-2 (intel) in our battalion in C.A.T....my rank is Major. ;D

Here is the infos of late Lt. Col. "Shadow" (nome de guerre).

Lt. Col "Shadow", S-2 of 14th Infantry Regiment, Cagayan Chapter and FAGF(NVP)NL, his last unit assignment during WW2.

Sometimes in Dec.1944, Maj. Ferdinand Marcos joined the 14th Infantry Regiment, Cagayan Chapter deployed in Nueva Vizcaya. Other 14th Infantry Division chapter were deployed in Ifugao, Bontoc and Isabela provinces in the Sierra Madre mountains. Lt. Col. "Shadow" planned the capture of Gen, Tumuyoki Yamashita (Tiger of Malaya) which later surrendered to the units of the 14th Infantry Regiment at Bontoc, Mt. Province and later escorted to Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya airport going to Camp John Hay Baguio City.

(BTW the original attack plan written on manila paper for the capture of Yamashita and the Flag was with Budz as his father war trophy souvenir........How many WW2 pinoy veterans had an original Japs flag...only a few, isn't it?...and its isn't easy to capture a japs flag, try to capture MNLF flag, you need hundreds of men to be sacrificed just to get one flag of the enemy)

During Liberation Time Dec. 1945, Lt. Col "shadow" and his men were still fighting with the Japanese Imperial Army in the mountains of Cagayan Valley, Northern Luzon. And he personally witnessed JIA officers hurriedly buried treasures and blow up cave/tunnel entrance to hide treasures during the retreat in Region II, N. Ecija, Isabela and Cagayan Provinces. They were able to interrogate some Japs offciers re the exact location of these treasures. Meaning while most guerrilla units, americans and japs are already surrendering and massive enlistment...theirguirilla units are still busy interrogating some Japs re buried treasures.

During WW2 Lt. Col. Shadow rose from the ranks...meaning he started as junior officer (Lt up to Lt. Col) during his retirement. In Feb 1948, Lt. Col. "shadow" took guerrilla physical and medical check up at 28th Inf. Reg Agno Area Command FAGF(NVP), General Headquarters (GHQ), Sadly Lt. Col. "shadow" and his 3,000 men who fought japanese troops did not recieve any benefits or recognition bcoz their records were burned when the truck carrying their WW2 records was ambushed while fighting with the Japs.

In 1965 Pres.Marcos and Lt. Col. "Shadow" form treasure hunting team and successfully recovered est. 10,000 metric tons...rest is history.

re;- Dindoy...thanks for that. appreciate it.

re:- Gboy...Thank you for the history clip. will check my browser to see if i can find it, like to know more....:) and no, i dont use Google!!

as i have been duly inform by a member, s2 means the rank involved and not a "Intelligence" rating. As all intelligence ratings are G2....Most Intelligence units are not attached to any particular unit but associated to a whole military organization. So when called upon they can deliver intelligence to who ever wants it,....For example MI6.

a little history for you....
Built in the early 19th century, the Novicio Santo Romano House became a rendezvous of important gatherings and meetings during the Japanese Occupation from 1942 to 1945.

The US Armed Forces stationed in Luzon headquartered in the house as they planned the capture of General Yamashita, where he was later imprisoned before his execution in Los Baños, Laguna.

Further history..I was also in the military for 25 yrs, not a high school, the real stuff, and yes with a Intelligence organization of the Special Forces. However, now i reap the benefits of such a career.

regards

YamTHrs,

YamTH or diggings is still  a taboo in our country. If you dig your neighbors is curious or envious of your TH dig which is uncomfortable to THunters like us. The only way to make it normal and ordinary is to let it known and exposed to people our TH activities thru TV. So when everybody is doing it, a time will come that if you dig or treasure hunt, your neighbors will no longer give you a damn what you are doing.

Ex: In Wawa, Montalban..there are lots of TH diggings for several decades now and nobody give a damn if your site is positive or not, bcoz its normal and ordinary for them.

I-Witness, the county’s most awarded documentary program, pioneers a new breed of documentary beginning this March 11 on GMA Pinoy TV. In keeping with its tag, “Ang bawat dokumentaryo ay isang pagtuklas,” this month’s I-Witness features epic discoveries “stories that are bold, intriguing and surprising.

Sandra Aguinaldo investigates a shocking record that is perhaps unknown to many Filipinos. Testimonies from WWII suggest that the largest feeding frenzy of sharks in recorded history happened right here in the Philippine Sea. Somewhere in the vicinity of Leyte Gulf, hundreds of American soldiers were left wounded in the water after their ship, the USS Indianapolis, was torpedoed down. Sandra Aguinaldo interviews a survivor who shares the horror of watching his comrades being eaten alive by what he insists are vicious sharks. Sandra visits the site of the infamous incident and attempts to solve the puzzle. Is the Philippine Sea really the most notorious of all? Or is there another truth that lurks beneath history’s uncharted waters?

Jay Taruc is known for documentaries in which he throws himself into the world of different people from all walks of life. This March, he immerses in the correctional system to experience and document the lives of prison inmates. Completely locked up and without the usual comforts of his everyday life, Jay experiences what it’s like to live in a prison cell and perform an inmate’s duties. He learns the ins and outs of the penitentiary, studies the culture of survival of the fittest, and brings home the untold stories of some of the most forgotten members of society.

Kara David journeys to a secret location where a group of men have dug a massive hole into the ground in search of buried treasure. Dozens of gold bars, believed hidden by Japanese generals, are the main target. A map and a set of codes lead Kara and the team to the supposed site of buried gold. But perhaps most telling is a living witness’ account of how the treasure was hidden. He claims he was tasked by Japanese officials to carry unidentified yet highly valuable packages to a hidden site, which he reveals to the I-Witness team. Kara David explores the never-ending hunt for hidden riches.

Howie Severino was a photojournalist even before he began making documentaries. At the height of violent dispersals at student rallies during Martial Law, Howie took a photograph of a young woman being taken by the police. The photo resulted in Howie’s imprisonment and trial. He was eventually released, but he never knew the fate of the woman in the picture. Decades later, Howie searches for the woman whose life and photograph so significantly shaped his own story. He also dissects the back and front stories of compelling photographs, proving that a picture indeed paints a thousand words.

I-Witness also showcases a new, cutting-edge look “from the opening billboard shot using the latest in video technology to the episodes featuring breakthrough treatments to the documentary.

The all-new I-Witness begins on March 11 on GMA Pinoy TV at these times:

SINGAPORE/HK, 5:20AM
JAPAN, 6:20AM
GUAM, PNG, 7:20AM
AUSTRALIA, 8:20 AM
NEW ZELAND, 10:20AM
DIEGO, 3:20AM
DUBAI, 2:20AM
KSA, 1:20AM
ITALY, 11:20MN
