Balikatan 2016 kicks off in Palawan, Panay

This year’s first phase of the US-Phl Balikatan series had its soft opening yesterday with the joint launching of construction and medical engagements in Panay and Palawan.

Capt. Frank Sayson, Philippine-side exercise spokesman, said five different school buildings and scores of local residents in the two islands benefited from yesterday’s shoulder-to-shoulder joint American and Filipino activities.

Balikatan is an annual Philippine-US military bilateral training exercise, a signature element of the alliance focused on a variety of missions including humanitarian assistance, maritime law enforcement and environmental protection.

This year’s joint military drills will take place in various areas of the country following the exercises’ official opening on April 4 and will run until April 15.

A beachhead landing to capture an “illegally occupied area by foreign forces in Panay” will be conducted by combined Filipino and US troops on the beaches of the capital town of San Jose in Antique.

Antique province in Panay directly faces the island province of Palawan.

“Throughout the joint exercises both forces will be working together to enhance maritime law enforcement throughout the Philippines to meet annual training requirements and enhance techniques, tactics and procedures as a critical part of interoperability of our forces,” Sayson said.

The annual joint military drills will also be conducted in Crow Valley in Tarlac, Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija, Clark Air Field in Pampanga, Subic Bay in Zambales and in Palawan, all aimed at improving the ability of both forces working together.

Gee, sounds convenient, building roads and schools for free.  Isn't that the same thing the Japanese have been doing ??

We were digging in Fort Magsaysay are in Nueva Ecija in May, 2015.  We were visited by a group of Americans who wanted us off the spot.  It got pushy.  No gold but just before us someone dug two meters and punched into a tunnel complex and pulled out a few 2kg bars then ran.  We pulled up a lot of broken bottles, iron objects and a tunnel entrance when the government came and became real shittiee with us.  We left when the government backed people came with a huge backhoe.  This is a brick lined and roofed tunnel, scattered broken plates and bottles inside the tunnel.  The fragments ran as old as 1,000AD .

Things never change.

Then i supposed the drill to be held at Fort Magsaysay is related to that event you've mentioned.. and this time they brought more men. it's getting clearer now.

Japan submarine to visit Philippines, Vietnam

A Japanese submarine will make a port call in the Philippines for the first time in 15 years and visit Vietnam's Cam Ranh Bay for the first time ever, Japan's navy said.

The announcement came days after China accused its Asian rival of interfering in the South China Sea.

Japan, which occupied the Philippines and Vietnam during World War II, is now strengthening relations. All three countries share growing concerns about China's increasing military muscle amid a series of maritime disputes.

China claims almost all the South China Sea. It is also embroiled in a separate row with Japan over disputed islands in the East China Sea that has seen relations sour badly in recent years.

Tensions in the South China Sea -- through which one-third of the world's oil passes -- have mounted in recent months since China transformed contested reefs into artificial islands capable of supporting military facilities.

Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan also claim all or part of the Spratlys chain in the Sea, while Vietnam and Taiwan have rival claims with China in the Paracels chain there.

The Japanese submarine Oyashio and two escort vessels will visit Subic Bay in the Philippines for annual open sea drills, a spokesman for Japan's Maritime Staff Office confirmed to AFP. The ships will also subsequently visit Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam.

The exercise, joined by some 500 personnel including officer candidates, is scheduled from Saturday through April 27.

It will be the first call at a Philippine port by a Japanese submarine since 2001, while the visit to Cam Ranh Bay will mark a first, the naval spokesman said.

Beijing accused Tokyo of interfering in the South China Sea after Manila said it would lease five Japanese military planes.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino said last week that Manila would lease five TC-90 training aircraft from Japan to "help our navy patrol our territory", pointing to the disputed South China Sea in particular.

China immediately reacted, saying it was "firmly opposed" to challenges to its sovereignty and security and would "remain on high alert".

When ever any foreign ships visit the PH, it is for gold transport.  The official big push for Jap recovery is starting in June 2016.  In fact today's conferences were on that subject as we were discussing the land purchases by Japanese on Mindanao area.  There is a couple of sites where field promotion Lt. Generals are buried.  There is a land purchase fight over one of these places going on this week.  The general is buried there with his staff car.

My aircraft tunnel project is hung up with the Japs and Manila.  Expect we will get screwwed over by the outgoing president.

Oh well.  You win occasionally and loose most but that is TH .

I think we'll have to double the effort to get our object before June 2016.. I hope our site is not on their list. There are plenty of objects in our site that is waiting to be unearthed.

Yah, so sad if it is true, I learned it also that the place were we operate, the jap company are rushing to build a long sea bridge that can accomodate their huge boat, if those things happen, we hope at the end those place well get a reward and the people there still enjoy the possible opportunity in the future.
