THE HUNT FOR LOST CIVIL WAR GOLD

Last Stand At Bitter Creek – One of the incidents involved a small detachment of Union solders that left Wheeling, West Virginia, in June 1863. escorting a shipment of gold bullion that allegedly went missing in the rugged and remote North-central region of Pennsylvania.
SECRET CARGO OF GOLD

Legend has it that Abraham Lincoln ordered the gold shipment to help pay Union soldiers. The cargo consisted of 26 gold bars, weighing 50 pounds each – worth between $1.5- and $2 million in 1863 – and stored beneath the false bottom of the wagon, which was covered in hay to disguise it.
Depending on what account you read, this shipment was headed for either the state capital in Harrisburg, or to Washington DC. In order to avoid Confederate patrols, the unit was ordered to travel as far north as possible before turning south.
The detachment was under the command of a young lieutenant, and led by a civilian guide. But only the lieutenant knew of the gold.
UNIT COMMANDER BATTLES FEVER

Here’s where story gets murky. The lieutenant reportedly had battled a fever throughout the journey.
Before the detachment reached St. Mary’s, in Elk County, he suffered a seizure and revealed the purpose of the mission, as well as the contents of the wagon. After spending the night, the detachment left St. Mary’s, and headed for Driftwood. It was the last time the lieutenant or the eight soldiers were ever seen alive.
GUIDE REVEALS STORY OF ATTACK

According to one account, the civilian guide showed up at Lock Haven, 40 miles southeast of Driftwood, contending the unit was attacked and wiped out, and the cargo taken.
He didn’t identify the attackers.
The US Army, however, questioned the veracity of the story and hired, and hired the Pinkertons to investigate. Undercover detectives had no success in locating the missing cargo. Army officials hustled the guide out of the area and sent him to a western outpost, where he died.
DEAD MULES AND SKELETONS

A couple of years later, or so, several human skeletons were recovered from Dent’s Run, thought to be members of the detachment.
The gold, however, was no where to be found. But, no gold bars were ever found. Until today.

Yes, the STORY.  Just to analyze, the story as it is given makes no sense at all.  No logic in particular military logic of 1863 when men still acted like men.  Pay roll was never paid in 50 pound gold bars and it would require a national mint to make gold coin because it is a lot of work to melt and purify bars into coin blanks and then stamp coin.  That is the job of the mint.  Military pay per individual was so small it was paid in silver coin or copper coin.  Even paper.  Military pay would not be sent to a state capital but to military central command in the area of concern.  It does smell like a political rip off from any one of several directions and then a wipe out to remove trace of the hijack.  Naturally kill of the last witness.  IF the last witness was given military direction aka orders to travel to a different remote region and then just dies, then logic is who ever gave him orders to that remote region is in on the rip off.   Just like in the PH treasure rip offs are always the same.

Dan - did you view the link at all?

DENTS RUN - Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and local treasure hunters were digging in Elk County Tuesday.

The agencies were set up off Route 555 in the community of Dents Run in Benezette Township.

Public Affairs SpeNothingt for the FBI Carrie Adamowski could only confirm that FBI agents were conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity.

The FBI & DCNR are actively digging at a site in Dents Run, Elk County. Our cameras also caught the owners of “Finders Keepers” on site — a group that searches for lost treasure. What the group believes is buried there tonight @WJACTV

6 News cameras also caught Dennis and Kem Parada on site, owners of Finders Keepers.

Finders Keepers is a lost treasure locate and recovery service.

In 2008, Finders Keepers told 6 News the gold in Dents Run is from the Civil War era.

Parada said Abraham Lincoln ordered a gold shipment to help pay union soldiers. He said the wagon left West Virginia with 50 pounds of gold, and came right through Elk County.

In 2012, Finders Keepers claimed they found the gold, but federal law prevented them from digging it up.

The FBI did not allow Finders Keepers to speak with 6 News Tuesday, but residents who live in the area said they believe officials are searching for the lost gold.

That photo shows the dead of winter there. Who the hell would even try to dig at that time when the ground is as hard as cement? Makes no sense to me.

Their web site :

http://finderskeepersusa.com/site.php?site=13

Seems the fact they spent in their own words $8,000 usd on this project, they are not exactly a big operation.  I've spent $250,000 on just one hole.  TH is not cheap.  I spent 4 years making legal claim to a crashed American aircraft in the South Pacific.  You must know the laws in detail because in general terms the authorities don't know shit and in particular the weenie FBI.  Their web sit does not identify any specific recoveries they have made.

This story has been around for years, the story about the gold being shipped and hijacked as it is said, that story is bunk.  Gold may have been jacked and re-hid or not.  But the story line as it is currently being repeated is bunk.  So if there was gold and there may very well have been, where is it ? ?

If you are talking less than 3 meters under the ground surface, use a drill rig.  Punch 3 holes and either you find yellow on the drill bit or iron or just a bunch of dirt.

They should make a deal with the state and go for the movie rights or publicity rights.  The Feds can not take that.

Authorities obstructing a TH recovery ? ?   NO WAY, that would never happen.  Especially in the PH , a beacon of piety and honesty.  As a kid of the 1950's and 1960's I remember reading and hearing stories of "Pirate Treasure" and sunken ships.  Divers found gold and such, became rich.  Now it is the agency and government lawyers getting rich.  Because in 1576 Spain murdered and raided Central America, took gold and then lost their ship in the gulf.  400 years later someone finds it and Spain claims it is theirs.  How about the people in central America that were killed in taking the gold ? ?  If Spain wanted it then Spain should have been looking for it 30 years ago.

oh well... I thought this can only happen in the Philippines......  Currently reading The Gold Warriors by Sterling Seagrave, makes my hair stand on end, realizing what took place during and after the war.  And to think that America and Japan were our economic role models.... I won't be buying any Mitsubishi products anymore.

Ignoring the shift in subject title, TW can fix that.  As a Kid I grew up in the late 1950's into the 1960's hearing stories from my Dad and his generation going on about the dirty Japs and the sneak attack on Hawaii.  One of my great uncles, my grandfather's brother, was a pilot in the Flying Tigers in China.  So he was naturally this hero.  Well not until the past few years have I learned the truth about  lot of things.  In the past few years it has come out with the release of the original signed executive order from President Roosevelt for the American sneak attack on Tokyo to take place in early 1942.  The last few remaining flying tigers now virtually all dead including my great uncle who died about 4 years ago, they have finally confirmed the whole story of their being in China was a cover story for the build up of the planned American sneak attack on Tokyo and the assassination of the Emperor.  The flying tigers were to be the fighter cover and the heavy bombers were already being delivered to China, covertly, by December 1941.  Why kill the Emperor ? ?.  Well the federal reserve bankers, Roosevelt's group and the European banks had already got the European and south American gold all rounded up in the Gold Bond scam and Japan had taken control of most of the Asian gold.  All of which had already been shipped to the Philippines and the Japanese Navy and Merchant Marines had been shipping gold to the Philippines even before 1938.  Now kill off the Emperor and his entire family.  That would put Imperial Japan into total chaos.  The highest level of the gold scammers in Japan got wind of this so they had to make a per-emtive sneak attack.  Self defense.

Welcome to a reality check.
